joining with other ordinary people, to bring about change."
The New Plymouth District Ratepayers Alliance is a community group who represent all the residents of the region.
If rates increases affect where you live in the district, then the Alliance is here to support you.
The Ratepayers Alliance was formed to provide a forum for discussion on local issues.
Our goals are to:
Reduce wasteful spending by Councils
Increase transparency and accountability of Councils
Research Councils business practices and performance
Educate and inform local people about Councils activities and outcomes
Our core committee members are just everyday people who are concerned about the increases in rates, and the decrease in accountability, from Local Government. Less local people are participating in Council Long Term Planning and Elections.
Many feel, or know, their voice is no longer heard.
We want to change that. We want ratepayers and residents to be listened to.
We are here to educate and inform, and to encourage local people affected by Council decisions to get involved, so we can all bring about change.
One person can't change the Council, but a Big Team of Voices can.
