Like so many not for profit groups we run on very limited funds. All of our helpers are volunteers, we have no paid staff.

We welcome all donations however small or large.

Just so you have an idea of why we are asking, the following are the types of things we need to cover the costs for:

$625 - for our website domain name and hosting costs for a year.

$460 - for contact cards to hand out to people.

$1,000 - to hire meeting rooms for public meetings.

If you are able to set up a regular payment, that would be fantastic, but one off donations are also very welcome.

Donate to our Legal Fund

Originally we set up a legal fund due to issues with the setup of the NPDC Water CCO in 2025.

We then found important documents being set up by the Water Company did not appear to be in the best interests of ratepayers, or water company consumers. We did a presentation to the NPDC when the Statement of Expectations (a legally binding document) was being created for the Water Company, as we felt there were no meaningful clauses which protected the interest of the overall community.

We obtained a legal opinion and presented this to the elected officials and were very pleased when every elected official voted to include amendments we had asked for from this legal opinion.

We did not expect as an Alliance that we would need to check the “legality” of documents presented to officials to vote on, but sadly we have found what is suggested from a governance perspective in agenda’s in meetings is not the full picture of what is included in legislation, and sometimes not in the best interest of ratepayers.

We now have an ongoing legal fund. The money is kept separate from our day to day running costs, and used specifically for legal oversight of documents or decisions, or legal opinions  - a written document we can present publicly endorsing a legal view.

Every donation helps - $2 - $5 - $10 - $20 - $50 - $100 – whatever you may be able to help with - will be helpful for us.

We have set up a dedicated bank account for Legal Fund donations.

Become a Financial Member

We have recently offered an option of Financial Membership with the NP Ratepayers Alliance.

The cost is $25 a year, per person.

A membership year runs from 1^st July to 30^th June

We hope to offer more options at a later time, but a benefit of Financial Membership this year is a Reserved Seat when we have a public meeting.

A condition of this option is that we need to be able to e-mail you an invitation to a public meeting, so we will need your e-mail address.
