What does truly consulting with your community look like ?

What does truly engaging with your community look like ?

Stratford District Council seems to understand that concept with Local Water Done Well. We congratulate them on that.

4 Drop in sessions for the community – advertised in advance – ask any questions you like of elected members and staff.

Online questions – on their website – their words - “If you've got a question about this consultation, that isn't covered in the information provided, please ask it here and we'll respond as soon as practical”.

New Plymouth District Council has one event – not advertised on consultation documents – buried in an event calendar at 11am on a Monday at the Library - with one NPDC Facebook post. 1 person attended.

Transparency – Community engagement – why is this so badly lacking with the NPDC ?

We have written to Mayor Holdom, and the CEO Gareth Green, and asked for them to arrange two meetings before the end of May so the people of New Plymouth can ask questions directly with the elected officials, in the same way they are doing in Stratford.
We will let you know when we receive a reply.
