The New Plymouth Ratepayers Alliance was hammered in the media after our Second Mayors event, and scolded by David Bublitz, a would be Mayor in 2025.

We have been called some dreadful names by David Bublitz – you can see his speech to us on the video of our Mayoral Event here:

Why are the Daily News, RNZ and David Bublitz saying such awful things about our team and our supporters ?

Because we ask very difficult questions ! We ask questions that expose the information behind the spin !

We research, we find facts, we gather information, screen shots, legal opinions and contracts and we put that together in stories. Our stories have lots of questions, and the NPDC is finding some of those questions hard to answer, or hard to deflect.

So this week the approach adopted was some pretty nasty name calling.

Who are the New Plymouth Ratepayers Alliance ?

We are a group of everyday New Plymouth people who represent Ratepayers, and by association Renters, who pay the bills for all Council activity and decisions.

A lot of Ratepayers, Renters and Business people in New Plymouth are struggling to pay the large increases with their rates.  We are making noises about the things that are adding to those rates bills and making noises about how to bring down debt and rates.

We had our second Mayoral Candidate event on Thursday 11^th September.

David Bublitiz, who would like to be your Mayor, took the opportunity in his opening speech to tell the Ratepayers and Renters of New Plymouth how he felt about them asking questions.

He was not at all polite. He was also keen to state (in his words/opinion) the misinformation our group spreads.

We would like to invite people to visit our You Tube Channel and have a listen to David’s response to the people of New Plymouth who would like some questions answered.

We would like to invite people to read other stories on our Website News Page to see what questions we are asking. 

We would like people to have a look at the attachments to our stories showing the facts we have found behind our stories. We have had a wide variety of concerns.

Please choose your Mayor very carefully this year.

The Alliance prefers a Mayor who will listen to concerns and be open and welcoming to Ratepayer and Renter feedback. An open minded Mayor who is prepared to alter plans that were made 4 years ago when people weren’t struggling with the cost of living.

We definitely don’t want a Mayor who resorts to nasty name calling because the people who pay the bills ask difficult questions.
