We had 2 attempts to speak for 5 minutes before a Council meeting. We didn’t manage to get put on an agenda
The Alliance has been having an interesting few weeks with the outgoing elected officials at the NPDC. We had 2 attempts to speak for 5 minutes before a Council meeting. We didn’t manage to get put on an agenda – yet speaking at a public forum can only be denied on a few grounds.
Our second attempt for the extra ordinary meeting on 10th October – which is a meeting to make big decisions about the future of the NPDC one day before the 2025 election – our first attempt the Mayor was away and the Deputy Mayor was not prepared to make a decision in his deputy capacity – then the Mayor returned to work the day before the 10th October meeting and refused a slot for us to speak.
We have attached the email and highlighted the reasons we were denied by Neil Holdom.
No one even asked what we were going to speak about so how any of these conditions applied is a little beyond our comprehension.
It seems having an opinion as a Ratepayer or Renter is offensive to some of the current decision makers around the NPDC table. It is plainly obvious some of the people who have been elected between 2016 and 2022 DO NOT CARE about how they are negatively impacting the lives of many people living in New Plymouth.
Our plan had been to deliver a summary speech of the attached document. This is the Ratepayers and Renters opinion of how the New Plymouth Community has been missing out under this Council’s majority of “Spenders” watch.
These are not the Alliance’s words – this is many, many, people in New Plymouth telling the Council “spenders” how they have negatively affected their lives and the community.
It is 12 pages of snippets of facebook posts and e-mails answering a question in July this year - by Harry Duynhoven – How is the Community Missing Out ?
Have a browse through. Keep in mind the elected officials who have loved spending your rates income – even though so many people told them - many times - they did not want them to continue with their spending.
