The Draft Annual Report - which shows if the NPDC Spending is on track - was presented today - but missing the Auditors Report
Part of the extraordinary Council meeting on 10th October is to present the Draft NPDC Annual Report for the Year Ending 30 June 2025. This part of the meeting is open to the public – but it is missing some pretty important information.
Just a reminder – there is the Long Term Plan we get to consult on – and then each year in between that – the Annual Report lets us know how the NPDC is tracking against what they said they would spend our money on.
This Annual Report is audited by a Government Auditor – to check that what the Council says the figures are – the Auditor agrees with.
So, the Draft Annual Report is attached to the Agenda for the meeting today (10th October) – THERE IS NO AUDITORS REPORT !
Page 189 to 192 where this Auditors report is meant to be - has 4 blank pages.

There were also delays with last year’s Annual Report and issues that needed addressing for the Auditor then.
There’s a closed extraordinary meeting today to put in place the Water CCO Board and what they will be paid – but the basics that should be the current Mayor’s bread and butter by now – he’s been doing Annual Reports since 2016 – the basics are not there – and not on time.
Deloitte’s Audit issues, Annual Report Audit Issues – the things we trust our elected officials to get right.
Yes the CEO manages all of the actions that take place across the Council – but the Mayor has just one employee – the CEO. The Mayor needs to make sure his one employee is concentrating on getting the basics right.
Audit reports, or lack of them, could suggest this is not the case.
Maybe these outgoing 6 elected officials this year should have spent more time getting the basics right and less time on creating very expensive grand ideas.
Once we have a new group of people sitting at the table in a week we will follow up on why the Auditors Report is blank, and if there is information they did not want the voters to know.
