A Council meeting late last month discussed the STV voting system (STV) - followed by a vote on whether to make a change.

The local voting system can be reviewed every 6 years, and was due for discussion this year. Moira George put forward a motion to got back to First Past the Post (FPP). Damon Fox seconded that.

For the change were:

Fabish, George, Chard, Fox, Vosseler, Chong and Brough.

Against the change were:

Bublitz, Woodward, Barrett, Blackburn, McLeod, Bennett, Brown and Moeahu.

The public has the right to demand a poll on the electoral system, but need to gather signatures from 5% of all eligible voters. The Alliance has made enquiries about this process.

Two pages of the minutes are attached to see who voted how, and why they voted the way they did.
